Our commitment
Colours Global is committed to making this website usable by everyone, including people who use screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, magnification, or other assistive technology.
The standard we aim for
We strive to make coloursglobal.com accessible in accordance with the WCAG 2.1 Level AA standard (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1). To achieve this, our website includes the following features:
- Keyboard navigation: every page can be operated with a keyboard alone, and a visible focus indicator meets the 3:1 contrast requirement in both light and dark themes.
- Skip links: a "Skip to main content" link is the first focusable element on every page.
- Contrast ratios: text and interface colours are verified against the 4.5:1 (text) and 3:1 (non-text) contrast ratios.
- Clear structure: headings follow a single, logical, unskipped hierarchy.
- Accessible forms: form fields have permanent visible labels. Error messages are announced to assistive technology and are programmatically linked to the fields they describe.
- Alt text: images that convey meaning have text alternatives, while purely decorative images are hidden from assistive technology.
- Reduced motion: animations are reduced automatically if your operating system or browser requests reduced motion.
Where the site presents information graphically, the same information is also available as text. The impact map, for example, is published alongside a text list of every country it marks.
